R.I.P., Dad. You were the best…

My father passed away on Monday. Like his parents before him, he died of a stroke. He is being buried on Saturday, the day before his 84th birthday.

My father was a good man and a fine father. He cared about his children very deeply and while he didn’t often speak that caring, it was something you could feel in his presence. He lived a long and interesting life and when I’m a bit more coherent and less shell shocked by his passing, I will doubtless write more about him.

  1. My condolences to you my friend. I wish so badly that I could come and visit you right now, but 1400km is a ‘lil far at the moment. I miss you very much here in Cape Town. The place is certainly more empty and boring without your presence.

  4. How sad that he is gone, Sphinx, but how wonderful that you had a father who could leave such an indelible mark on your heart.

  5. I am sorry for your loss. I buried my father 1 month ago today. He was 69 and had a short battle with cancer. I too, look forward to your writings. I started blogging 2 days ago to help me cope with his passing. Lets keep in touch. Sorry for your loss, I understand.
